The Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) completed thousands of inspections in March as part of ongoing efforts to keep roadways safe and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. From March 1 through March 31, troopers conducted 4,705 commercial vehicle inspections, placing 499 drivers and 579 vehicles out of service. Officers also recorded 34 oversize and 174 overweight violations. During the month, CVED also participated in a nationwide enforcement effort ahead of the end of a 90-day grace period for fuel tax and registration compliance. Troopers checked more than 1,200 vehicles requiring permits and identified multiple violations, including issues with registration, missing decals, and licensing. Officials say enforcement will become stricter following the grace period, with another compliance check planned in May.
