Loogootee Mayor Brian Ader provided updates on several ongoing city projects and issues during a recent interview on Getting in the Know with Greg Bateman. Ader said maintenance work is underway on the city’s water towers, including repainting, repairs, and updates to communication equipment. The project is part of routine upkeep and is expected to continue for a few more weeks. Plans are also in place to add new lettering and design elements to one of the towers. At the city park, crews are installing long-awaited exercise equipment and making improvements to parking areas. Ader said future plans include expanding green space and exploring options for a safer walkway connecting the park to the nearby pool. Downtown, officials are working to address parking limitations as more businesses and tenants move into the area. Proposed changes include adjusting traffic flow and increasing available parking spaces through reconfiguration and striping. Ader also noted continued growth in housing, with new homes, duplexes, and apartments under construction or planned, reflecting what he described as a local building boom. Regarding the Mid-States Corridor project, Ader said it is currently not moving forward but emphasized the importance of ensuring it does not resurface in the future. He also addressed a city ordinance prohibiting feeding animals on public property, citing health and safety concerns, particularly in public parks. Ader said overall activity in Loogootee remains strong, with multiple projects underway across the community.
