Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday evening in Spencer County. Indiana State Police say the crash happened around 8:20 p.m. on State Road 162, just west of Saint Meinrad. Preliminary information indicates a northbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound SUV. The driver of the northbound vehicle, Amber Gogel, 37, of Dale, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, Amanda Kern, 40, of Dale, was taken to a Jasper hospital with serious injuries and is listed in stable condition. Officials say the crash remains under investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled.
