Law enforcement agencies across Indiana, including local departments, are preparing to take part in the annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign aimed at increasing seat belt use. The high-visibility enforcement effort runs from today through May 31, with officers working overtime to ensure drivers and passengers are buckled up and children are properly secured. Officials say seat belts remain one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injuries and fatalities in crashes. Indiana law requires all vehicle occupants to wear a seat belt, and drivers can face citations for violations. State leaders note that seat belt use in Indiana has steadily increased in recent years, now exceeding the national average.
