Two separate investigations conducted by the Washington Police Department have resulted in 12 arrests related to burglary and narcotics offenses. The first incident stems from a burglary at Stars Smoke Shop. A search warrant executed at a residence on the 700 block of Center Street led to the arrest of 39-year-old William Burris, who now faces charges of burglary, theft, and possession of stolen property.
In a separate case later that night, a narcotics investigation culminated in a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of SE 7th Street. Officers detained 11 individuals and reported finding methamphetamine, marijuana, syringes, pills, and paraphernalia consistent with drug distribution. Cody Taylor, 35, was arrested on multiple drug-related charges, including dealing methamphetamine. Ten others were arrested on various charges ranging from maintaining or visiting a common nuisance to possession of paraphernalia. These efforts were supported by WPD patrol officers and detectives, the DEA Task Force, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, and Indiana State Police. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
