A tragic ATV accident on Saturday evening, July 5, claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy and left an adult man seriously injured near the intersection of County Roads 1150 North and 1200 East, in Spencer County. Spencer County Dispatch received a 911 call at 7:05 p.m. reporting the crash. When first responders arrived, they found a three-wheel ATV off the roadway with both occupants ejected. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, while the adult was airlifted to Owensboro Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that neither rider was wearing a helmet. The investigation is ongoing. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office, Coroner’s Office, Indiana DNR, and area fire and EMS crews.
