The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a July 9 shooting on Shabur Ave. in northern Vigo County was a murder-suicide. Deputies responded around 12:30 p.m. and found two people in a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Kathy Ann Cunning, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her brother, Keith Russell Chaney, 59, was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later died. The case remains under investigation, but officials say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
