Debra Kaye Parsons, 71, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday July 20, 2025, at her Granddaughter’s residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 16, 1954, in Princeton, Indiana to Amos Fuller and Patricia (Mitchell) Mowry.

Debra was of the Christian faith, and she was officially baptized, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, although she walked in faith her whole life. That faith is what carried her through battling and beating 3 different types of breast cancer. She was resilient and strong, and proved that up until the very end.

Anyone who knew Debra knew her family was her entire world! “I love you more than the moon & stars!”, was recited religiously, and written on every card ever given by her. Her daughters, grandbabies and sweet grands were where she focused most of her love, although there was never any shortage of love and that extended to her life-long friends and “work family”!

Debra worked at the Martin County Sheriff’s office, as a dispatcher, for 23 years! There she met and formed her extended family. Everyone who worked with her felt love and security on the other end of that line. She truly honored the time she was there and the bonds she formed there, but none more than the love of her life, Lester “Paulie” Jeffers. Their life was full of adventure! Their Harley rides, spontaneous moves across the country and bickering that some people would question but most knew was their love language. Their favorite time was spent with coffee, hot tea and pie and of course their family! They are now reunited probably bickering, on a Harley ride!

To her babies she was loving known as “Nanny”. She loved her family more than the moon & the stars, and that love was felt in every conversation, every gathering, and every quiet moment shared. Her warmth and presence will be deeply missed, but her encompassing love will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace, wrapped in God’s eternal love.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lester “Paulie” Jeffers, her “Daddy Jim” James Mowry who raised her, her mother, Patty Mowry, grandparents, Clifton & Ruth Mitchell, and her sister, Channa Williams.

Those who are left to carry on her love. Her daughters, Lori (John) Daniel, Jenna Parsons, her grandchildren, Shaylee (Joshua) Milligan, Mitchell (Bella) Daniel, Jayden Parsons, Kaleb (Kaylynn) Daniel, great- grandchildren, Jeb Milligan, Daxon Milligan, Roean Milligan & Rose Mae Parsons. Her Nephew Nick (Stephanie) Parker, and great nieces, Samantha and Brinley Parker. Also, her bonus grandchildren, Caden (Crystal) Chandler and Ryken Chandler.

Friends may visit on Tuesday July 22, 2025, from 2:00 P.M until the time of service at 7:00 P.M at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana with Andy Burkhardt to officiate. Cremation will follow according to her wishes.
