Several area schools are preparing to welcome students back for the 2025–2026 school year, with start dates and events scheduled across Daviess and Martin Counties.
North Daviess Schools begin August 5. Registration for North Daviess High School started yesterday, with returning students registering today, July 24th, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Online registration also begins today. Kindergarten Round-Up is scheduled for July 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Elementary “Meet the Teacher” night will be August 4 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Washington High School students return August 6. Incoming freshmen are invited to “Hatchet GOLD” orientation on August 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with lunch provided. Students with dietary restrictions are encouraged to bring lunch or contact Mr. Holland.
Washington Catholic Schools also start August 6. A “Back to School Block Party” will be held Sunday, August 3, beginning with Mass at 10:00 a.m. and followed by food trucks and family fun from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in front of the elementary building.
Barr-Reeve Schools start August 6. Online registration opened July 22, and onsite registration takes place today, July 24, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Loogootee High School in-person registration is today, July 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the LHS Media Center. An open house is scheduled for August 4 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., and the first day of school is August 6.
