Barry E. Trowbridge, a spirited soul known for his love of adventure, passed away on August 18, 2025, in Bicknell, Indiana, at the age of 75. Born on January 28, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jackie C. and Norma Jean “Pederson” Trowbridge, Barry’s vivacious spirit and passion for life touched all who knew him.
Barry’s family was the cornerstone of his life. Barry is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Kathleen “Rollison” Trowbridge, whom he married on October 27, 1973, in Columbus, Ohio. Barry also leaves behind his daughter, Becky Jean Trowbridge, his devoted sister Linda Gussler, his nephew Arick Gussler, and his cherished feline friend, Too Socks, who will undoubtedly miss his warm lap.
Predeceased by his parents and his sister, Patricia Williams, along with his uncles Ward, Curt (Belva), and Ed (Theresa) Trowbridge, Barry’s memory will be one of love and enthusiasm for all who shared in his journey.
Barry joined the Air Force in 1968 and served until 1972. Following a year of study at Columbus Community College, Barry worked as a civil servant at DCSC, where his dedication and excellence earned him multiple achievement awards from his base commander. Barry demonstrated his passionate patriotism and sense of civic duty through his service, carrying those values throughout his lifetime.
Barry’s interests were as broad as his heart was large. His passion for motorcycles and ultralight flying attested to his desire to feel the wind on his face and the freedom of the sky. A man who found joy in the details of life, he appreciated all genres of music and found camaraderie and community as a member of the Bicknell French Club. For those who knew him, it was common knowledge that if it had a motor and went fast, Barry would be a fan, as reflected in his love for NASCAR and vehicles of every kind. Barry returned to Bicknell in 2023, a place he had many childhood memories.
Described as adventurous and spirited, Barry moved through the world with a magnetic presence that drew people to him. Whether playing a competitive game of Euchre or telling tales of his latest escapade, Barry exuded a warmth and infectious sense of wonder that encouraged others to live fully and embrace the moment.
Barry’s legacy will continue in the hearts and stories of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of experiencing his adventurous spirit. As we bid him farewell, we celebrate a life lived with boundless enthusiasm and an unquenchable thirst for joy. Barry E. Trowbridge’s journey through life was profound and truly unforgettable.
