A Daviess County man has been sentenced to 150 years in prison following his conviction in a 2024 murder and attempted murder case. On August 26, 2025, a jury found 40-year-old Abel Dubon-Castillo guilty of murder, two counts of attempted murder, burglary, and intimidation after a seven-day trial. Prosecutors said the case stemmed from the February 4, 2024 killing of Aracely Torres and the attempted murders of Yarely Santiago-Torres and Concepcion Rodriguez-Martinez in Washington. At sentencing on September 22, Judge Dan Murrie handed down the maximum penalty, citing the severity of the crimes. Prosecutor Abby Brown praised the Washington Police Department, Indiana State Police, and Knox County High Tech Crime Unit for their roles in the investigation.
