A 48-year-old West Salem, Illinois man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on US 41 in Knox County. Deputies say the semi, loaded with coal, was traveling southbound when it crossed the median and both northbound lanes before overturning into a cornfield near Schenk Drive around 12:14 p.m. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the man may have suffered a medical issue prior to the crash.
