Two local organizations are continuing efforts this month to raise awareness and opposition to the proposed Mid-States Corridor Project, which would route a new highway through parts of Dubois and Martin counties. The Property Rights Alliance, a coalition of homeowners, farmers, and business owners opposed to the project, plans to attend several public events, including:
Oct. 22: Lochmueller/INDOT Open House, 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Jasper Middle School
Oct. 23: Property Rights Alliance Meeting, 7 p.m. at Klubhaus61
Nov. 7: RDA Board Meeting, 4 p.m. at the Huntingburg Event Center
Meanwhile, the group Stop the Mid-States Corridor Project will host two remaining Town Hall Community Discussions — Monday, Oct. 20, at Teen Outback in Huntingburg and Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Klubhaus61 in Jasper, both starting at 7 p.m. Organizers say the meetings will feature maps, videos, and interactive discussions to help residents understand the potential impacts of the proposed highway route.
