The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that human remains discovered on Friday, October 31, in the Lynnville area have been identified as 38-year-old Zachary Carey of Evansville, who had been missing since 2023. A hunter scouting in the area reported finding what appeared to be human remains, prompting a search by Warrick County detectives. The remains were recovered and sent to the Vanderburgh County morgue for DNA testing, which confirmed Carey’s identity early Monday morning. Authorities say no foul play is suspected in his death. Additional searches conducted over the weekend by the Warrick County Coroner’s Office and a Department of Homeland Security cadaver team found no other remains. Officials noted that this case is separate from the ongoing investigation into a different body recently discovered at the Bluegrass Fish and Wildlife Area.
