Indiana State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Sullivan after a domestic disturbance call early Tuesday morning. Authorities say the incident happened around 1:50 a.m. at a home on South Bell Street. Officers from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and Sullivan City Police responded to a report of a domestic situation involving a man and woman. When officers arrived, they found a woman in the roadway with visible injuries. Moments later, 31-year-old Kylan Holbert exited the home and allegedly ran toward officers while armed with a knife. Police say officers gave repeated commands for Holbert to drop the weapon, but he continued advancing. One officer then fired, striking Holbert. Officers provided immediate medical aid. Holbert was first taken to a Terre Haute hospital, then airlifted to Indianapolis. His condition has not been released. The injured woman was taken to a local hospital but later declined treatment. The Indiana State Police Putnamville Post is leading the investigation at the request of the Sullivan County Prosecutor. Once complete, the case will be turned over to the prosecutor’s office for review.
