The Daviess County Commissioners heard the County Highway Department’s plans to work on several bridges in the county if Daviess County is awarded available 80/20 grants for the projects. County Highway Superintendent Chris Winkler told the Commissioners that the bridge at Raglesville is the county’s #1 priority. Winkler said the estimated cost of replacing the bridge is $4.1 million. The county’s 20% share of the project would be $824,000 if the county is awarded the grant for the project. Winkler said guardrails along the Boggs Lake causeway and the bridge on County Road 400 E between County Roads 500 S and 600 S are other high priorities. Winkler also discussed the maintenance of old railcar bridges in the county. Winkler also presented the commissioners with a summary of bids received for 2026 supplies. The commissioners approved Winkler’s plans and accepted suggestions on the bids for the supplies.
In other business, the commissioners approved contracts with the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation and a GIS software contract.
The Commissioners approved maintaining the same meeting schedule for 2026, voted to follow the same holiday schedule as the State of Indiana, and maintained the current payroll schedule for next year.
The Commissioners also approved an amendment to a farm contract for land near the Daviess County Airport. The amendment was needed due to the airport’s runway expansion and other projects.
The next County Commissioners meeting will be at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9.
