
The City of Loogootee is mourning the passing of former Mayor Don Bowling, who died at the age of 97. Bowling, a lifelong resident of Loogootee, served two terms as mayor and was recognized as Indiana’s oldest-serving mayor at the time of his retirement. City officials say he leaves behind a lasting legacy of leadership, public service, and dedication to the community. Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 3, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church. City leaders are extending condolences to the Bowling family and encouraging the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
