A bill authored by State Rep. Shane Lindauer of Jasper aimed at supporting Indiana businesses has passed the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee. House Bill 1226 would provide bidding preferences to encourage public contractors to use supplies manufactured, assembled, or produced in Indiana. The measure also expands existing preferences for Indiana-based businesses that manufacture products within the state. Lindauer said the bill passed the committee unanimously with bipartisan support. The legislation now moves to the full Indiana House of Representatives for further consideration.
