Police and emergency crews handled several weather-related calls Monday, Jan. 26, as slick roads led to multiple slide-offs and stranded vehicles in the area.

In Washington, officers assisted motorists at several locations, including S.R. 257 and East National Highway, where one vehicle needed to be towed. Another driver at the same intersection reported a broken front tire and arranged their own help.

A more serious incident was reported in the 2200 block of South S.R. 257, where deputies responded to a crash involving vehicles off the roadway. Deputies contacted an on-call wrecker, and Craney’s responded and took the vehicle. No injuries were immediately reported in the log.

Additional incidents included a semi reported stuck in the roadway in Odon near 606 W. Elnora Street, which was later reported cleared, and other vehicles that became stuck in snow around Washington, including one at the entrance to Domino’s that was pulled out. Another motorist stuck in an alley off East George Street arranged for Briggeman’s to move the vehicle.

Officials remind drivers to slow down, leave extra stopping distance, and avoid unnecessary travel during winter conditions.
