County Leaders Share Updates at State of Daviess County Address

The Daviess County Chamber of Commerce hosted their quarterly luncheon yesterday and presented the State of Daviess County. New Director Daniel Cullen welcomed the crowd and shared his vision about leading the Chamber into the future. The format was open, allowing more speakers from county departments to give updates. Tony Duncheon highlighted accomplishments from County Commissioners and The County Council. Erica Burkemper shared exciting news about all the upgrades and improvements happening at our Daviess County Airport with runway expansions and a new hangar being purchased from EDC. Nathan Rihm spoke about lake improvements at West Boggs Park and presented some of the numbers about visitors coming to camp and enjoy the park each year. It was also shared that the park has now been completely privately funded for over 17 years with no taxpayer dollars. Bryant Niehoff gave big updates on the progress at WestGate as the skyline is changing and buildings are going up. And Sheriff Gary Allison shared that the County Jail and Community Corrections continue to work to rehabilitate and give options to prisoners for personal growth.
