The Washington Police Department is reminding drivers to slow down in school zones as officers increase patrols near schools and along bus routes through the end of the school year. According to the department, the 25 mile-per-hour school zone speed limit remains in effect from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. on school days in Washington. Police say the increased patrols are part of a partnership with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and include enforcement efforts focused on stop-arm violations, speeding and reckless driving when children are present.
