Grace Ellen Dunigan passed away peacefully on April 28, 2023 surrounded by
family and loved ones.
Grace Ellen Megenhardt was born to Arndt and Pauline Megenhardt. Grace
joyously arrived on November 17, 1935 in Coal City, Indiana, where she would
grow up.
Grace was Valedictorian of Coal City High School’s Class of 1954.
Grace soon married Howard L. Dunigan on August 13, 1956.
Grace worked as a Civil Servant Secretary at Ft. Benjamin Harrison and
subsequently transferred to St. Louis while Howard attended St. Louis University
for Dentistry.
A few years after Howard earned his dental degree, Grace teamed up with
Howard (“Doc”) building their own Dental Practice in Petersburg, Indiana, which
became their “forever” home. Together they would serve and befriend 1000’s of
patients over the next 60 years. Grace made people smile as Office Manager up
front while Howard made smiles better in the back.
Grace was a member of the Timeless Classics Car Club, and served as “Assistant
Treasurer” for the many years Doc served as “Treasurer”.
Grace and Howard had a son Greg and daughter Danette and were blessed with
two granddaughters and two grandsons.
Grace is survived by her husband Howard, son Greg (Jamie) Dunigan; daughter
Danette (Tom) Robinson, grandsons Hayden and Dietrich Dunigan;
granddaughters Brittany (Roger) Robinson; and Kirstin (Sean Gassen) Robinson;
sister Dona Duncan of Brownsburg, Indiana; a brother, Bill (Norma) Megenhardt
of Arizona; a wonderful chorus of nieces and nephews; and close family friends
Michelle Bennett, Phyllis Dillon, and Carol Sue Sutton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John David Megenhardt,
sister-in-law Deloris Megenhardt, brother-in-law Darral Duncan, brother-in-law
Gerald Dunigan, sister-in-law Margaret Dunigan, and sister-in-law Pauline
Dunigan.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 7 th , 2023, from 3-6 PM EST at O.D. Harris Funeral
Home. A small visitation period will also be available on Monday, May 8 th , from 9-
10 AM EST.
The funeral services will be Monday, May 8 th , 2023 at 10 AM EST at O.D. Harris
Funeral Home followed by burial at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg.
