On June 1, at around 9:30 a.m., Senior Trooper Curtis Blunk and Trooper Adam McBeth responded to a report about a male slumped over the steering wheel of a green Dodge pickup truck on State Road 161 in Dubois County. Upon arrival, Trooper Blunk found the male breathing but asleep. He also noticed plant material and a metal grinding device in the man’s lap. The male, identified as Steven L. Ball of Velpen, was asked to step out of the vehicle and was subsequently handcuffed. A search of Ball and the vehicle uncovered glass smoking pipes and a small bag of crystal-like substance in his pocket. Ball was taken into custody without incident and is now held at the Warrick County jail. He faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
