Knox County Industrial Park Approved as Economic Development Area, Unleashing Potential for Growth

The Knox County Industrial Park has received final local approval to become an economic development area. In April, the Knox County Redevelopment Commission (KCRDC) raised the issue, leading to the approval of a declaratory resolution and an economic development plan. This action establishes a Tax Increment Finance (TIF) zone within the park. The TIF designation enables the capture of tax dollars for improvements within the zone, which spans approximately 700 acres of the Beckes and US 41 Industrial Parks. Before approving the measure, the KCRDC conducted a public hearing where only favorable comments were received. Starting in 2024, the KCRDC will begin capturing tax dollars for future utilization in the park. One of the initial projects mentioned is the expansion of water and sewer services in the southern part of the US 41 park.
