In the statewide races yesterday, incumbent Republican Bruce Borders finished with 38% of the votes from portions of Knox, Daviess, and Vigo counties and all of Greene and Sullivan counties and retained his seat in Indiana House District 45. Currently, no Democrats are running against him in the fall election. Kellie Streeter came up just 323 votes short in her challenge to Borders. Streeter’s percentage was 35%. The third person in the race, a former state representative, Jeff Ellington, came in third with 27% of the vote.

In House District 64, where Knox County falls, current GOP State Rep. Matt Hostettler won Tuesday’s primary. And in Indiana House District 63, incumbent Shane Lindauer ran unopposed for his seat.

Meanwhile, in U.S. House District 8, Republican Mark Messmer of Jasper, a current state senator, will be facing Democrat Eric Hurt in the November election as both try to succeed Congressman Larry Buchson, who isn’t running again.

In the Indiana Governor’s race, Mike Braun was the clear winner in the full GOP field and will face Democrat Jennifer McCormick in November, who ran unopposed. Braun got about 39% of the votes Tuesday evening, with Suzanne Crouch getting 22% and Brad Chambers getting 17%.

Jim Banks was selected as the Republican nominee to succeed Senator Mike Braun. Banks, who has served in the House for the last decade, will be taking on Democrat Valarie McCray in the November election.

This year’s Election Day will fall on Tuesday, November 5th.
