The Indiana State Police are investigating a string of ATM thefts, including a recent incident on May 8 at 3 am, in the Dale area. The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting the theft, which involved a 2001 Ford F-350 stolen from Dubois County. The suspects used the stolen truck to pull the ATM off its pedestal using heavy tow chains. After breaking into the ATM and emptying its cash, the suspects fled in a dark-colored SUV. This method of theft is similar to a previous ATM theft in Saint Meinrad in September 2023. The investigation into these incidents is ongoing.
