The Uplands Regional Land Bank has purchased a long-vacant property in Loogootee, marking a new step in local revitalization efforts. According to the Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth, the property at 102 John Street has been acquired with the goal of returning it to productive use. Land banks focus on redeveloping underutilized or blighted properties to strengthen neighborhoods and encourage local investment. Officials say the property has been empty for an extended period and will require significant work, but it offers strong potential for redevelopment. Possible future uses include a single-family home or even a small bed and breakfast.
