
Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle personal injury crash Monday afternoon on South State Road 57 in Washington. Authorities said airbags deployed in the collision, and six people, including three adults and three children, were involved. Witnesses reported one vehicle had gone into a ditch and was smoking, though everyone inside was able to get out safely before crews arrived. Emergency medical personnel and firefighters responded to the scene. The crash caused significant front-end damage to one of the vehicles, which was later towed from the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

According to dispatch reports, a Chevrolet Malibu was found crashed into a tree line near a wooded area shortly after 9:20 p.m. The vehicle had significant front-end damage and was reportedly smoking when emergency crews arrived. Initial reports indicated no one was inside the vehicle. Responding agencies, including the Plainville Volunteer Fire Department, later located the suspected driver nearby and requested emergency medical services. One person was transported to Daviess Community Hospital for treatment. Authorities said the driver was later taken into custody following the investigation.
