Two Trailer Fires Reported Monday in Washington; State Fire Marshal Notified in Vine Street Blaze

The Washington City Fire Department responded to a fully engulfed trailer fire Monday evening near Vine and Field streets in Washington. Dispatch reports indicate crews were called to the scene shortly after 6 p.m. after witnesses reported heavy black smoke, flames and loud popping noises coming from the structure. Initial reports indicated it was unclear whether anyone was inside the trailer. Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully engulfed, and crews later reported a second nearby structure had also caught fire. Additional manpower and tanker support were requested as crews worked to contain the flames. Roads in the area were temporarily blocked during the response. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified. One firefighter was checked by ambulance personnel at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.

According to dispatch reports, crews were called to the scene shortly after 4:30 p.m. after a caller reported heavy smoke coming from the trailer. Firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke showing from the structure. Officials said the trailer was vacant and no injuries were reported. Crews also requested a utility line crew to respond because electrical power was still connected to the residence. Additional off-duty firefighters were later called in to assist at the scene. All units cleared the scene and returned to service shortly before 6 p.m.
