Washington Community Schools and Sodexo Food Service will once again provide free summer meals for all children 18 and under through the USDA Summer Food Service Program. From May 26 through June 5, congregate breakfast and lunch meals will be served at Washington Intermediate School and will be open to the public. Breakfast will be available from 8:45 to 9:05 a.m., with lunch served from 11 a.m. to noon. Beginning June 9 through July 28, the school corporation will switch to a “Sun Meals To Go” program. Meal kits containing five days of breakfast, lunch and milk will be distributed each Tuesday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Gate 4 of Washington High School. School officials say only parents or legal guardians may pick up meals, and children must be present at pickup. Families whose children are already receiving meals through participating camps or childcare programs are not eligible to receive additional meal kits during the same week.
