Washington’s School Board officers for 2026 maintained a familiar look.  Board members chose Scott Arthur to remain as president, Tim Hedrick will serve as vice-president, and Sarah Browning as the board secretary.  The Board also appointed Carie Alford as the Corporation Treasurer and Andrea Martin as Assistant Treasurer.  Meeting as the Board of Finance, the Board members received a report on the Education Fund, Rainy Day Fund, and the Operations Fund. Superintendent Kevin Frank told the Board about his concern with the operations fund, which pays for maintenance and upkeep of the school system’s buildings and grounds and bus transportation. The operations fund is most affected by the State Legislature’s change in property taxes.

In regular business, the Board hired Lauren Jahn as a temporary teacher at the Intermediate School, hired Flo Lloyd as a STEM instructor at Veale, and appointed Travis Harper as assistant boys track coach at WHS. The Board also approved out-of-town trips for the High School Beta Club, DECA, BPA, and FCCLA.

The School Board also voted to keep the third Thursday at 7 p.m. as its regular meeting time.

The Board and Tim Cochran of Habig Injury Law recognized Amy Cline, Lisa Emmick, and Macy Garcia as Staff Members of the Month.
