Driver Arrested for Resisting and Battery After Wrong-Way Incident on Interstate 64

A driver was arrested for resisting and battery on a police officer after driving the wrong way on Interstate 64. The incident occurred late Wednesday night, April 24th, when the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a wrong-way driver. Trooper Nathaniel Kern successfully deployed stop-sticks near the 68.5-mile marker, leading to the vehicle’s stop. The driver, identified as Lauren Jones, was uncooperative and combative during the arrest. Jones bit Trooper Leah Schnell, requiring medical attention. Jones was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital for clearance and then to the Dubois County jail, where she is held on bond. Jones faces charges including OVWI, resisting law enforcement, battery on a police officer, obstruction of justice, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, reckless driving, and obstructing traffic. Multiple agencies collaborated to safely end the incident, spanning Warrick County, Spencer County, Dubois County, and Perry County. Fortunately, no members of the public were injured during the incident.
