The Daviess County Commissioners received a good report from this year’s required bridge inspection that evaluated all 126 bridges in Daviess County. The inspectors complimented the Daviess County Highway Department for their maintenance of the county’s bridges. The inspectors said Daviess County was much better than most Indiana counties, with only 2% of the bridges rated as poor. Seven bridges were recommended for replacement. The inspectors noted that the two worst bridges are already slated for replacement.
In other business, the Commissioners approved a request from the Circuit Court for an additional court clerk to help manage the court’s expanding caseload. The commissioners also approved a request from Community Corrections for new security cameras for their offices. The cameras will connect the Community Corrections office to the security system for other county buildings. Funding for the cameras will come from money the county received through the opioid settlement. The commissioners voted to approve a renewal of the county’s contract with Baker-Tilly and authorized Ride Solutions to apply for a 2027 grant.
The commissioners also heard reports from DCEDC Director Bob Grewe and SIDC Director Greg Jones.
