
Multiple fire departments responded Monday afternoon to a house fire on Adams Street in Wheatland. Knox County deputies and Steen Township Fire were initially dispatched around 2:15 p.m. When crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames. Vigo Township Fire Department later responded with mutual aid, along with Harrison Township, Palmyra Township, Washington Township, Good Samaritan EMS, Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department, and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately three hours battling the blaze. Authorities say the home and its contents were a total loss. The occupants were not home at the time, and no injuries were reported. However, two family pets were lost in the fire. A go fund me has been set up for the Shelby Seth family.
