A 20-year-old Vincennes man will serve the remainder of his sentence in prison following a hearing in Knox County Circuit Court. George Smith had been placed on work release in April 2024 after pleading guilty to a Level 5 felony charge of reckless homicide in connection with a March 31, 2023 shooting that claimed the life of 18-year-old Hunter Ravellette. Authorities say Smith later turned himself in after the incident, which occurred at a home on East Locust Street. During a hearing Monday, Knox County Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan presented witness testimony and surveillance video from the work release facility, arguing Smith violated the terms of both his work release and probation. Judge Monica Gilmore ruled the violations were proven and ordered Smith to serve the remainder of his sentence in the Indiana Department of Correction.
